Rolling around…

When school starts back up I’ve decided that I’m going to get a nice expensive rolling backpack for my kids. I’ve seen and read enough about them to figure that it’s worth that little extra money because of how much added value they give. Being able to roll your backpack around instead of carrying it with you non-stop is beneficial to your health, and your time.

It helps them not have the added stress on their back all day and then it also helps them simply load up their books and go to each class. This saves time because in the past they might have had to make several stops to their locker to change out books or supplies that they were going to carry around, but now they can carry more since they will be rolling it. I’ve read about some of the safety issues associated with them and while they are real, I don’t think they really matter too much. If a kid is going to get hurt, just because they have a rolling backpack to use doesn’t really increase that risk, at least in my book.

I need to make sure that the backpack I choose is the right design and has enough pockets, especially since I’ll be buying the rolling backpack for my girls. That’s why consulting a good rolling backpack guide is my first step. It’s funny that I’m just as excited as they are to get this new addition.

Traveling Without Scratches

One of the things that has always bothered me about moving is how often when I get to the location I was going to, I either lost or damaged something I brought along. It can happen on the trip there, or a lot of times on the way back when I’m just tired and don’t take the time to pack everything up correctly. A lot of times I will pack up my stuff really well and orderly when I’m going somewhere, but after I get there and unpack everything and enjoy myself, when it’s time to pack stuff back up I just don’t do it right. This can cause problems if there are any kind of valuables that I’m taking with me.

Many people recommend renting moving blankets for protecting what I need. I’ve never done it before but I think I’m going to take some words of wisdom from them and give it a try. Many people think that moving blankets are just for protecting your fragile items during a move. While they do work well for that, and I’ve used them before for that purpose, yes, I’ve never thought of just buying my own and letting them protect my other stuff.

For instance, I always bringing some electronics along on vacation and in the past I’ve had them scratched and even one CD player ruined because it was shuffled around so much in my bag that by the time I got back home it didn’t want to work. If I had wrapped it in a moving blanket I have no doubt it would have made a big difference and saved me the expense of buying another one.

Safety When Traveling

If you do plan on going out of the country you should make sure that you take the proper precautions on your trip. Make sure that you do not carry a lot of money on you, use travelers checks, try not to look like a tourist and keep your belongings tight and secure on your body. Do not tempt someone who is looking for a mark to pick you, and you will be a lot safer. One thing I’ve always liked using is something called Front Pocket Wallets. They basically take your wallet from the back of your pants, in the back pocket, where it is a lot easier for someone to pickpocket you, into the front pocket of your pants where in order to steal your wallet they would have to be in front of you, basically bumping into you, and not only would that be harder, but the front pocket wallets are created to fit in the bottom of your pocket, snuggly and more tighter fit so the chances of them actually getting it are way way lower.

If you are the kind of person who is very trusting in nature, then these are great because you can stay that same way and still not get taken advantage of. It’s super easy to just use the wallet and be yourself while away, as far as your money/credit cards are concerned. You should really check one out. They are made in leather or other materials and are fairly cheap to buy and have shipped to you.

Homes For Your Pets

Anytime you choose to travel you should make sure your loved pets at home have the right kind of treatment and care while you are gone. If you do plan on leaving for an extended time it’s probably better and safer that you just let someone keep your pet for you, but if you have a nice enough place for them to stay and you won’t be gone for longer than a few days to a week, they might be able to stay at their current living quarters and just get help periodically from a neighbor or family or friend. You need to make sure they are reliable though because you definitely do not want them to flake out and endanger your pet. Depending on what kind of animal you have it can vary on how often they need to get taken care of. The different between a rabbit and a dog is great, as is a cat and a lizard, I think you get the idea.

One of the best places to keep a rabbit would be in rabbit hutches for example. They are really nice and cozy for your rabbit and can make a great home away from home if you do plan on moving it to someone elses yard while you are gone. Don’t be afraid to move it and let your pet adjust then go on the vacation you need and deserve!

Traveling For Yourself

I think a nice vacation would be spending a month going to a bunch of places in another country, and just meeting new people along the way and seeing what happens. You gotta make sure that you have enough money and you don’t want to carry it all with you, even though you might be tempted so you don’t get it taken at your room, but you will probably stand out as a tourist and that could cause danger. Didn’t you ever see the movie hostel? If anything that brought down the want for anyone to vacation to that country, and I actually did hear reports that they complained about less tourist traffic during that time. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

Going on a good adventure travel tour would be alot of fun and one day I would like to do it.  One you thing you have to keep in mind is that if you have any kids or family that you are responsible for you have to make sure that all your responsibilities are taken care of before you go on this adventure. If you don’t plan right or take the time to make sure you aren’t spending too much money then you might not be able to afford it, or if you do go anyways you might find when you get back that you overstretched yourself and will take some time to make up the money to get comfortable again.

If you do feel like taking a vacation just make sure that you plan properly and above all that you have fun for the money you are spending. There is nothing more frustrating then spending a lot of money and planning out a great vacation only to realize it’s not as much fun as you thought it would be and by the time you get there you already want to come back home.
